The Most Famous American in the World Is Now . . .

The most famous American in the world is now Leo XIV, the first American pope. Formerly known as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo is an Augustinian priest born and raised in Chicago who is apparently a White Sox  fan. Here, he celebrates his first Mass as pope. — Vatican Media

Just so you know, things have changed up a bit on planet Earth in recent days:

The most famous American in the world is now a man who has taken a vow of poverty and service, who has committed his life to the welfare of others, especially working people and the poor, and who declared this week, upon being elected pope, that “evil will not prevail.”

“God loves us, all of us, and evil will not prevail” Pope Leo XIV said to the multitude assembled in St. Peter’s Square on Thursday, an hour or so after he had been elected pope. “We will move forward.”

Good to know.

Real Snow in Minnesota . . . and Real Warm in My Real Austrian Walkjanker

My authentic Austrian Walkjanker jacket has hung forlornly at the far end of a plastic garment bag for decades. It had no place to go till my son got engaged to a Minnesota girl — and I had a chance to show it a good time on a snowy weekend in Minneapolis.
