It’s Christmas — And This Is What Merry Looks Like

December 25, 2021 By Barbara Falconer Newhall

It’s Christmas, and for me this is what merry looks like.

I could write a lot of words here, throw some synonyms around — blithe, bright, joyful, happy, equanimous.

But nothing says merry quite like this 700-year-old mother and child tucked away in the choir loft of the Toledo Cathedral in Spain.

It’s Christmas. May you find some merry in your day today and in all the days that follow.

I notice that I’ve been thanking people a lot lately. People — not God, not the Universe, not “the force that through the green fuse drives the flower.”  Read more.
