Hey, Everybody!

Jon Newhall and I have been married for 35 years now. Two kids, one house and lots of rewarding jobs later, we seem to be in it for the long haul.

We got married late. We skipped our first marriages and went straight for the second. A strategy I recommend.

For more about how we wound up getting married, see “The Day She Popped the Question.”

“We skipped our first marriages and went straight for the second.” Yes! I love this. I feel the same way about marrying at the relatively late age of 36. I remember when I was 24 and very in love with a man my current self can see was not quite compatible in the longterm, my mother said, “He’s nice. enough He’d make a good first husband.” I was devastated when he broke up with me but now I’m very grateful. So glad I followed in your footsteps!

    Love, Lindsey

My friend Jake is a man in his prime. He does triathlons, reads good books, knows all the best hiking trails and drinks nice wines. Jake has never been anybody’s rickety old grandpa — until recently, when Jake’s daughter gave birth to a baby girl. Read more.
