The Most Famous American in the World Is Now . . .

The most famous American in the world is now Leo XIV, the first American pope. Formerly known as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo is an Augustinian priest born and raised in Chicago who is reputed to be a White Sox  fan. Here, he celebrates his first Mass as pope. — Vatican Media

Just so you know, things have changed up a bit on planet Earth in recent days:

The most famous American in the world is now a man who has taken a vow of poverty and service, who has committed his life to the welfare of others, especially working people and the poor, and who declared this week, upon being elected pope, that “evil will not prevail.”

“God loves us, all of us,” Pope Leo XIV said to the multitude assembled in St. Peter’s Square on Thursday, an hour or so after he had been elected pope.

“God loves us, all of us, evil will not prevail. We are all in the hands of God. Without fear, united, hand in hand with God and among ourselves, we will go forward.”

Good to know.
